Run-off Election

In advance of the run-off election, we provide the following information for your consideration.

A run-off election is required to elect one of three at-large members to Divisional Council. Per Berkeley Division Bylaw 9E and F, "If fewer candidates receive votes on at least 35% of the valid ballots cast than there are vacancies, a second ballot must be taken. It must list the nominees not elected but receiving the highest percentage on the first ballot, but not to exceed twice the number of remaining vacancies."

In the March election, Doris Bachtrog (Integrative Biology) and Kristen Holmquist (Law) received the highest numbers of votes, and received votes on more than 35% of the valid ballots cast. These candidates will be declared elected.

The candidate receiving the third highest number of votes did not receive votes on at least 35% of the valid ballots cast. Therefore, a run-off election will be held between Abhishek Kaicker (History), who received the third highest number of votes, and Deborah Blocker (French), who received the fourth highest number of votes. The candidates' websites, nominators, and statements are available on this web page.

The run-off election will be open from 8:00am on Monday, April 7, to 5:00pm on Monday, April 14. The ballot link will be posted on the Elections website when the election opens.
