Approved minutes of the November 30, 2020 emergency meeting

Meeting Information

  • The meeting will start at 10:10 a.m. if quorum is achieved. Participants will be admitted to the meeting beginning at 9:45 a.m.

  • Please log in to Zoom through the Zoom desktop client/mobile app or web browser if possible.

  • If you are unable to log in to Zoom and need to join the meeting by phone, please inform the Senate staff in advance, if possible. To do so, send your name and phone number to acad_sen@berkeley.edu so that you can be identified when you join the meeting, and you will be allowed to vote (see below).

  • All participants must identify themselves with their full name. If the staff cannot identify you (and your status as a Senate member), you will not be allowed to vote.

  • Attendees who are not Senate members will have their names modified with an identifier (“Z_First Name Last Name”). Please do not remove the identifier. Non-Senate members may not speak during the meeting and cannot vote.

  • All participants except those who are speaking should have cameras and microphones off. Participant chat will be disabled during the meeting.

  • To make a comment during the appropriate time, please use the blue “raise hand” button and wait to be acknowledged before turning on your microphone and camera. Phone participants, use *9 to raise hand and *6 to mute/unmute.

  • Comments by Senate members will be limited to 60 seconds, and each member may only speak once per agenda item, unless every other member who desires to speak has had an opportunity to do so (time permitting). The comment period will be timed.

Information about Voting

  • Voting will be conducted by Zoom polling. Polling will be open for 60 seconds. At the time of the vote, non-Senate attendees will be removed from the meeting and placed in the Waiting Room. This is necessary to ensure that only Senate members vote. After voting is finished, all participants will be returned to the meeting.

  • Participants joining the meeting by phone who have been identified as Senate members may vote verbally by roll call when Zoom polling opens.

  • Results of the vote will be displayed and announced verbally.
